Our Story
More than a hostel. A movement. A community built by travelers who believe the journey matters as much as the destination.

Founder
From the Founder
Safar started as a dream during my own backpacking journey across the Himalayas. After years of staying in hostels across India and Southeast Asia, I realized what travelers truly need - not just a bed, but a community. A place where a solo backpacker from Tokyo can become friends with a family from Mumbai over a shared plate of Maggi and a sunset view.
I wanted Safar to be that place. Every detail, from the 200 Mbps WiFi for our digital nomads to the curated treks for our adventure seekers, has been thoughtfully designed based on my own experiences on the road.
Welcome to Safar. Your journey starts here.

Travel Diaries
Real experiences from real travelers who found their Himalayan home.

This is not a hostel. This is a lifestyle.
Digital Nomad from Bangalore
14 NightsI came to Safar for a weekend and stayed for two weeks. As a full-stack developer, reliable internet is non-negotiable — the 200 Mbps fiber WiFi here is faster than my office in Bangalore. Every morning I'd work on the terrace with snow-capped peaks in view, join the evening bonfire with travelers from six different countries, and fall asleep to the sound of the Beas river. Safar didn't just meet my workation needs — it made me fall in love with Manali. I'm already planning my next three-week stint.

I came for the mountains, I stayed for the people.
Solo Backpacker from Barcelona
7 NightsEmma arrived as a solo traveler with a torn backpack and left as part of a family. She learned guitar chords during terrace jam sessions, joined the Monday trek to Jogini Falls (and swam under the waterfall), cooked paella for 12 guests using the hostel kitchen, and organized an impromptu Spanish night with sangria and tapas. Her Google review — "I came for the mountains, I stayed for the people" — became one of our most shared testimonials.
Be Prepared
Check off items as you pack. We've sorted the essentials for you.
“Don't overpack. The mountains provide everything else.”
Seriously — we offer free laundry service at the hostel so you can travel light. Pack the essentials on the left, and leave the rest to Manali's magic.
